A literature review for MICa 8-006 should emphasize the last five years of work on the topic,
but can go back later if that is necessary to appreciate the more recent work.
Write a concise review paper, 5-10 pages in length double-spaced, not including the bibliography or tables and figures, if any.
Plagiarism (the use of another person's ideas or expressions in your writing without giving proper credit to the source) will be severely penalized. Use your own words rather than copy others, and cite your sources! For more information on plagiarism, see http://writing.umn.edu/tww/plagiarism/ The single-spaced bibliography, double-spaced between each reference, should include full citations for each article, book or book chapter, in one consistent style used by any journal in the field. Include ALL authors for each reference. Websites should be cited as: Author(s). Title. Date of publication. Date of Access <URL>. For example: Lynda Ellis. MICa 8006 Home Page. August 1, 2002. September 4, 2002. <http://www.micab.umn.edu/8006/> Find papers and websites to include and cite through: Tramontano textbook; online bibliographic databases; web lists; literature citations in recent papers or reviews. Each student will present a 25-minute oral report on the topic, and lead a 10-minute discussion. Powerpoint and/or transparencies can be used. Copies of all the reviews are due on Tuesday, November 7, 2006. Submit one printed copy and either give me a copy on disk or email it to me. I will link all reviews to a page of the class website. Class members are expected to read each review BEFORE the oral presentation, and prepare TWO questions for each presentor, related to the paper or the topic. Oral presentations will occur during November, on assigned dates.
